What went wrong with the Ford Transit Custom
A local tradesman couldn't find the only key to his Transit Custom first thing in the morning. With no spare, the van – and his day's work – was going nowhere.
What we found on arrival
The van uses Ford's PATS immobiliser with a flip remote key. With no working key to copy, the new key had to be cut to the locks and programmed to the van from scratch.
How we sorted it
We decoded the lock to cut a new blade, then connected to the van's diagnostic port to add the new transponder and pair the remote buttons. The missing key was removed from the van's memory so it can't be used if it turns up in the wrong hands.
The result
The van started first time and locked and unlocked from the fob. We recommended a spare while we were there to avoid a repeat.
